League of Legends: changing hotkeys and the keys to avoid

Two places to change your hotkeys In game — Esc opens the Options menu, where Keybindings is. In the client — Settings (cog icon, top right), then Hotkeys. The client accepts keys the game menu does not. To go back to the standard bindings: "Restore Defaults".
Hotkeys are bound to your account and saved on Riot's servers.
Keys you cannot bind: Shift, Control, Alt or Command on their own, and Function.
Keys you can bind but that already do something F9 — disables screen edge scrolling F12 — takes a screenshot Enter and Num Enter — open the chat window
Every other key on a standard keyboard works, as do mouse buttons 1 to 5.
